CNC Setup Technician

About the Position:

At Alpha-Bio Tec, we're passionate about developing innovative dental devices that improve patient lives. As a CNC Programmer in our Research & Development team, you'll play a crucial role in accelerating this mission by bringing new product designs to life through precise prototype creation. You'll be responsible for programming and operating CNC machines to produce high-quality prototypes, directly contributing to faster development cycles and optimized product performance.

What responsibilities will you have?

Prototype development:

  • Analyze technical drawings and translate them into detailed CNC programs using SOLIDCAM software.
  • Develop complex machining strategies for diverse prototype parts, ensuring dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
  • Collaborate with engineers to refine designs and optimize machining processes for manufacturability.

Machine operation:

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and milling centers efficiently, ensuring proper tool selection and calibration.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventive measures to keep machines in optimal condition.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks to ensure parts meet stringent specifications.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Document machining processes and best practices for future reference.
  • Train and mentor junior team members on CNC operation and programming.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.

You will be a perfect fit for this role if you meet the following requirements:

Essential:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in CNC programming for lathe and/or milling machines.
  • Technical education or equivalent work experience in a relevant field (e.g., manufacturing, machining).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles and machining fundamentals.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred:

  • Proven experience with STAR™ or CITIZEN™ CNC machines.
  • Proficiency in SOLIDCAM™ software.
  • Knowledge of choosing cutting tools based on material and application.
  • 5+ years of experience as a STAR™ machine operator.
  • Engineering technologist background in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
